Media Technology

I am Bernard Reid, Jr.

Media Technology instructorat ACE.

I have been in the media technology world since the young age of 13. I am a product of the Beaufort County School system being a graduate of Battery Creek High’s Class of 1998.

I have an Associate’s Degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting from Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, South Carolina. I also taught at this college for 4 years.

I have worked in various television and radio stations in South Carolina before coming to ACE.

This course is designed to build on basic video production principles learned in the course. This course will incorporate both studio and field production techniques using both analog and digital technology. Using lectures, screenings and hands-on labs, students will gain a more in-depth understanding of video production and the business of video production. You will also learn the aspects of scripting, lighting, camera work, continuity, post production editing, and logistics will be incorporated into this course.

My goal is also to develop a strong media program that teaches and prepares high school students to enter the college level with visions of the students entering the working media and video production environment at an entry level position.

Creative problem solving abilities, a desire to continue to learn, self-motivation, an openness to new changes in technologies and challenging new ideas are key skills that I will instill in my students.

Interpersonal skills will also be used to help the students succeed, including work ethic, listening, communication, and presentation skills.
