The students of BJACE elected their executive officers and representatives in general elections this past October. Students from both Beaufort and Jasper voted for four executive officers: Student Body President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Each CATE program elected one representative to bring any concerns and ideas to the executive officers.
Our first meeting was held on October 22, 2014. The members discussed many ways to help our school and become more involved in the community.
The Student Council, along with other student organizations at ACE, works to provide support for all students and an opportunity to build leadership qualities. The council meets at least once a month to discuss any activities that are on-going or for the future.
To date, the council, along with other student organizations has held a canned food drive held prior to Thanksgiving. Students were asked to bring in food items that would be donated to the local food pantry. Our students donated over 300 food items. During the weeks leading to Winter Break, the council assisted in organizing a coat and toy drive for the Salvation Army. The students of ACE donated over 350 items to assist the needs of our community.
Future plans include fundraising efforts for Relay for Life, senior week activities, and T-shirt designs and sales.
The Executive Committee along with the CATE Representatives look to make the Beaufort-Jasper Academy for Career Excellence a community partner for the Lowcounty.
