Cards and Letters to Troops and Senior Citizens Community Service Project
Chef Moore, Culinary Arts CATE Program instructor and SkillsUSA Chair, is overseeing a community project involving ACE students. As part of SkillsUSA week ACE students will create handmade cards and letters that will be sent to our troops and senior citizens.
The cards and letters for our troops will be mailed to a Naval unit currently deployed. The cards and letters for senior citizens will be delivered by our Health Science students to NHC during their clinical visits. A table will be set up in the cafeteria during all lunches so students can participate. A collection box will remain in the cafeteria to receive all submissions for the project.
Student organization members at ACE collaborated to carry out a school-wide community service project.
During the month of December new, unwrapped toys and gently used coats were collected.
The respective items were donated to Toys for Tots and the Salvation Army.
Over 370 items were donated.
The project was organized by
Mrs. Beth Ann Melton, Agriculture instructor
Chef Erin Moore, Culinary Arts instructor
Mr. Kevin Railey, Social Studies instructor.
