Counseling Mission Statement

 

“I will advocate for the overall development of the child.

The goals include the academic, personal/social and career aspects of our program

to promote a collaborative relationship

with parents, students, faculty and community.” 

                                                         

A counselor meets with students to:

 

Listen
Provide support when dealing with personal problems
Assist students with IGP plans
Explore career readiness
Assist with college preparation
Assist with scholarships
Handle crisis situations

 

Common concerns dealt with in a counselor’s office:

 

“I’m having trouble with my boyfriend”

“I just need to talk to someone”

“My best friend hates me and now everyone is against me”

“My homework isn’t done because of something that happened at home”

“Something happened to me and I need to tell someone”

“One of my parents left last night and I don’t feel very good”

“My girlfriend broke up with me”

** South Carolina 4 year Colleges require three units of Laboratory Science. Courses in earth science,general science, or environmental science for which biology and/or chemistry is not a prerequisite willnotmeet this requirement.
